Church Of Holy Spirit
Largo De Igreja is also known as the Church Square, which houses within it the Church of the Holy Spirit. Largo De Igreja has several old Portuguese houses and buildings, rendering it a sense of history and cultural heritage. The Church of Holy Spirit was originally built at the site of a Hindu temple in 1565, but was later destroyed by Muslim forces. It was only in 1675 that the Portuguese re-built this church and made it what it is today. The intricate carvings and beautifully decorated interiors are a sigh to behold. The redos inside the church are dedicated to the Virgin Mary and span the entire length of the floor to the ceiling. The church is open to the public during daytime.
